Since 2002, motocross on Quad Bikes began rapidly growing in popularity in the United States and Europe alike. This was a direct result of the manufacturer’s entry into new Quad Bike sports. Racing Quad Bikes started in the mid 1980’s when they began mass production of Quad Bikes for the general public’s amusement. Since then until the end of the 1990’s many third party companies supported this sport at a low level. Road racers collected expensive custom made Quad Bikes from engines taken from the old 86-89 Honda TRX250R. Over time the refined suspensions allowed Quad Bikes to compete with Cross Motorcycles.
In the early days it was very expensive to make normal Quad Bikes ready to race. At the end of the 1990’s the rules changed, and allowed the riders to use motorcycle engines in combination with the special frames. The era of the four wheeled Quad Bikes began with Harold Goodman, who won a national championship on a four wheeled Quad Bike with an engine from a YZ400F. Soon hybrid Quad Bikes became commonplace on the track.
Manufacturers begun to pay more attention to the Quad Bike market from the year 1999 and by the year 2003 a special class of Quad Bikes was born for national competitions. By the end of 2003 sports Quad Bikes were made readily available to the open market enabling anyone and everyone to buy sports Quad Bikes.
