2025 Lexus TX 350 F Sport Handling AWD Review

Written By: Jerry Reynolds | Jun 24, 2025 12:06:18 PM

I admitted on the Car Pro Show last Saturday that Amy and I inadvertently reviewed the exact same vehicle.  It may have happened one other time in the decade or so we’ve both been reviewing cars for you.  It started when the vehicle I had scheduled had an issue and had to go to a service department.  Since I have been on a Toyota run of late, I checked to see what else was available on short notice, and here we are.  Guess what?  I’m actually OK with it.  If you read Amy’s review of this beauty, and you keep going here, you’ll see the differences in what we look for, and you know, that’s OK.

So, this week, I too have been behind the wheel of the 2025 Lexus TX F Sport Handling all-wheel drive.  This really filled a hole for the luxury automaker since the RX has been their best-seller, the TX is a nice compromise between the RX and the all-new GX, and has this SUV has been a terrific seller for Toyota’s luxury brand.

In case you are not familiar with it, F Sport Handling on a Lexus is a performance and appearance package that adds sport-tuned suspension,  more aggressive styling, and unique interior details to enhance driving dynamics and aesthetics.  F Sport adds quicker steering response, and enhances style with unique wheels, trim, and interior touches—but it doesn’t increase engine power.

Exterior

I like the exterior appearance of the TX, it’s not overly blingy by any stretch, and Lexus has toned down the big front grill that polarized so many people.

It has a rear spoiler, very attractive 22” F Sport wheels. LED lighting all around, and color-matching trim along the sides. This one is the very popular Incognito color and I like it a lot.

Performance

Under the hood comes a 2.4-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine that delivers 275-horses and 317 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles.  Personally, I would opt for the TX 500h hybrid which gives you 366-horses, 406 pound-feet of torque, AND gets better fuel economy.  That will of course cost more money, but if you drive both, I think you’ll be able to justify the expenditure.

Interior

The interior is what I’ve come to expect from a Lexus.  It is luxurious but not over the top like some upper line SUVs.

The seats are amazingly comfortable in NuLuxe two-tone black & light gray, just the right amount of bolstering, and they are heated and cooled. The seats are heavily stitched and stitching also runs from the door panels and across the entire dash.  Everything you touch inside the TX 350 is soft with no plastic at all.  The seats remind you this is the F Sport on both front headrests.

The gauge cluster is bright, colorful, and is easy to read.  It is also large, coming in at 12.3” and is highly configurable from the steering wheel controls.  It features a large tachometer, you can display your speed digitally, and it gives you the outside temperature and the time.  All-in-all, it is a very well thought out display.

2025-lexus-tx-350-digital-display-jerry.jpgNicely integrated into the dash is a huge 14” touchscreen in which everything runs.  It is simple to use, extremely fast, and there is no learning curve to speak of.  From there you operate the optional Mark Levinson sound system with 21-speakers, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, you can configure the car the way you wish, and all your settings are there.

It also houses wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and a fantastic 360-degree camera system.  You operate the drive modes from this screen as well, you can choose normal, sport, eco, or you can customize it to your liking.  There is no trackpad or dials, it is all touchscreen, and it is well within reach of the driver or passenger.  In something I’ve not seen before, but hope to see again, there is a screen to lower the second and third row seats while parked.  You do not have to get out of the vehicle to increase the cargo area, it is easily done from either front seat.

Below the big screen are your air conditioning controls which feature large knobs, seat temperature controls, and a volume knob for the sound system.  Further down is a well laid out center console that has a wireless cell phone charger that sits atop a sliding door that hides a hidden compartment, three USB-C ports, a couple of cup holders with removable square inserts that serve no real purpose I can think of, the gear shifter, your electronic emergency brake, the Auto Hold button, and a button to turn off the traction control (not sure why you ever would), and YEA there is a button to easily turn off the start/stop system.

My tester has the 2nd-row captain chairs, and they are very comfortable with fold down arm rests.  Both seats are heated and cooled, they recline, and they slide forward and backward.  Second row occupants get their own automatic temperature controls, a couple of USB-Cs, and a power outlet.  There are manual side window shades to block the sun on those hot summer days or for privacy and the center console is removable for easy access to the 3rd row seats.

2025-lexus-tx-350-f-sport-handling-third-row-1-jerry.jpg.jpgEntry to the 3rd row is simple with a button on top of the second row captain’s chairs that slide and fold the seats completely out of the way.  Where all the TX models really shine is the amount of 3rd row seat room.  Two adults, regardless of size, would be extremely comfortable back there, and headroom and legroom are amazing.  You would have no trouble going cross-country in this 3rd row seat, just realize this is a six-passenger, not a 7-passenger SUV like most in this size range due to the center row captain’s chairs.

Utility

Also, a surprise was the amount of cargo area behind the 3rd row; there is an amazing amount.  If you need more, the 3rd row folds quickly and easily into the floor with the push of a button.

You can fold the rear seat down on either side, it is a 50/50 split configuration.  You can also fold down the 2nd row captain’s chairs and have an incredible 97-cubic feet of cargo area.  The liftgate is power operated from inside the vehicle, a foot motion detector, or with the key fob.  There is also a compartment under the cargo floor to hide valuables.

Safety

On the safety front, the 2025 Lexus TX 350 comes standard with Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, automatic high beams, proactive driving assist, plus a digital latch with safe exit assist, blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, and intuitive parking assist with auto-braking.

Standard Equipment and Options

The TX 350 F Sport Handling is extremely well-equipped, but there are quite a few optional features on my test unit.  There is the $895 Convenience Package (front/rear cross traffic alert and traffic-jam assist and a digital key that both come with a 3-year free trial), the 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system for $1,160, the Technology Package for $1,280 (panoramic rear camera, advanced park assist), $420 for the cross bars on the roof rack, $399 for rear cargo area lamps, $150 for a cargo area mat, and an activity mount for $990 which is essentially a trailer hitch mount.

Notable standard features besides those talked about above is ambient lighting, power tilt and heated steering wheel, memory seats, a huge panoramic moon roof, aluminum pedals with a dead peddle, and power folding mirrors.

Ride and Drive

The TX 350 F Sport Handling rides and drives like a dream thanks to sport-tuned Adaptive Variable Suspension that intelligently adjusts damping on all four corners in real time for a confident yet composed ride, combined with a front MacPherson-strut and rear multi-link setup with rear-wheel steering for enhanced handling and stability.

It is whisper-quiet inside and the handling is quite good for a luxury SUV.  It will tow 5,000 pounds.  Fuel economy is rated at 20 city and 26 highway for a combined 23 overall, but not nearly as good as the 500h.  Acceleration is so-so, but in sport mode, it is much better.

Verdict

This is a super nice luxury SUV and incredibly comfortable for every passenger.  MSRP as equipped is $71,863 which is not bad at all for what you get.
